Portogallo 1995-1999 Raccolta

It’s incredible how photography has the power to reignite memories and evoke the feelings tied to the moment a picture was taken.
It has happened to me several times: years would go by without me looking at certain photos—sometimes forgotten for one reason or another, or simply because at the time I didn’t find them particularly interesting and set them aside.
Today, seeing those images again instantly takes me back to those moments, to the emotions I felt, to those days. There are so many people I wish I could see again, to know what they are doing now, how they have changed.

During the years I worked in Portugal, I believe I covered an incredible number of kilometers. Almost every day we were on the road, often traveling long distances that took us from one end of the country to the other. Some memories are still imprinted in my mind, while others come back vividly the moment I see the images from those times.
Even though I always had my cameras with me, I wish I had taken ten times more photos than I actually did. Every corner seemed interesting, worthy of being captured, and I always had this desire to preserve those moments.
Now, after all these years, I realize it really was like that: it was a world full of richness, full of things and people to discover, to meet—and why not—to photograph.
